DesktopEngine SDKLive content for the Mac desktop

Make dynamic wallpapers, widgets and desktop pets for DesktopEngine in JavaScript or TypeScript

Three kinds of content

Dynamic wallpapers fill a display and can run as the screen saver; widgets sit on the desktop or float above windows; pets keep you company above everything.

APIs you know

Canvas 2D, WebGL 2, fetch, WebSocket, Web Audio and Streams. three.js and PixiJS work out of the box.

One command to debug

desktopengine dev runs your project in the app, reloads it when you save, prints its console and exceptions in the terminal, and Safari's Web Inspector sets breakpoints.

The app does the rest

Option forms, permission prompts, multiple displays, light and dark, pausing and saving power are handled by the app. Your content just draws.
